The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde (1886) is a novella written by Robert Louis Stevenson.  It was adapted for the stage within 7 months of its publication and has been adapted regularly ever since.  To date, there are more than 100 adaptations spanning drama, film, cartoons, comic books, and other forms.
